Terms
The terms for using this site, written to be read rather than scrolled past. It is free, there is nothing to sign up for, and the short version is that your files stay yours because they never reach us in the first place.
Using this site
Anyone can use the converters here, for personal or commercial work, at no cost and without an account. Using the site means these terms apply to you.
There is no licence to accept, no seat to buy and no limit on how many files you put through it. You are responsible for having the right to convert whatever you convert — that is your call to make, not something this site can check, and it is the one obligation that genuinely sits with you rather than with us.
Your files stay yours
We claim nothing over the pictures you convert. Not a licence, not a right to store them, not a right to use them — and the reason is simpler than a clause: converting a file here does not send it to us, so there is nothing on our side to claim anything over.
This is worth reading closely, because it is where converter terms usually differ. The standard wording elsewhere is that you keep the rights to your content, which sounds reassuring and is a much weaker promise than it looks — it is the sentence a service writes when it does receive your files and wants you comfortable about that. A site that has your picture on its servers has to tell you what it may do with it.
Here the question does not arise. The privacy page sets out what does and does not happen when you use the site, in terms specific enough that you can check them yourself in your own browser rather than take our word for it.
What you agree not to do
A short list, and none of it should be surprising.
- Don't use it for illegal material. Converting a file does not change what it is, and material you have no right to hold is no more acceptable in a different format.
- Don't attack the site. Probing it for weaknesses, trying to break it, or trying to reach parts of it that aren't public. If you find a genuine security problem, tell us — that is welcome and it is the opposite of this.
- Don't pass it off as yours. The tool, the writing and the design here are ours. Using the site is free; republishing it as your own product is not.
What this site promises, and what it doesn't
It's offered as it is. We work to make every conversion correct and we say plainly on each page what one will do to your picture, but we can't guarantee a particular result on a particular file, or that the site is reachable at any given moment.
The practical version: keep your originals. That is good advice with any converter, including this one, and it matters more here than at a service that keeps a copy — because we don't have one to give you back. Once you've converted a file and closed the tab, what you have is what is on your own computer.
If a conversion here does something other than what the page said it would, that's a fault worth knowing about rather than a limitation to accept. Tell us and it gets fixed.
If these terms change
They may. The site is being built out, and the honest position is that a page written today won't cover everything a year from now.
Two things this site commits to when that happens. The date at the end of this page moves, so you can tell at a glance whether anything has shifted since you last looked. And if a change makes something on the privacy page untrue — advertising being the obvious one — that page gets rewritten in the same change rather than left standing while it quietly stops being accurate.
What this page is not
This is a plain-English statement of how the site works and what using it involves. It has not been drafted or reviewed by a lawyer.
Worth stating, because a page titled "terms" usually implies a few things this one deliberately does not contain: a governing law and jurisdiction, an indemnity, and the dispute-resolution wording a contract normally carries. Those are not oversights and they are not padding we forgot — each one is a real legal instrument with real consequences for you, and writing a convincing-looking version of one that nobody has reviewed would be worse than leaving it out and saying so.
They belong here before this site is promoted as a commercial product. Until then, what is written above is accurate about how the site actually behaves, which is the part we can stand behind without help.
