The files you convert

Your picture is converted on your own computer, in the page you have open. It is not sent to us or to anyone else as part of that, so there is nothing on our side to store, and nothing for us to delete later.

That is a real difference from converters that upload. Those have to receive your file, keep it somewhere while it converts, and then promise to delete it afterwards, which is a promise you have no way of checking. Here there is no upload step to trust in the first place.

You do not have to take our word for it either. If you know how, you can watch what a page sends while you convert something, and you will see your picture stay where it is.

Two honest limits on that. Converting is not the only thing that can happen to a file on a computer, so this describes what this site does, not a guarantee about your device in general. And a converted file lands in your downloads folder like any other, where whatever else you run has the same access to it as always.

Camera and location data in your images

Photographs from a phone or camera usually carry hidden details along with the picture: the device, the date, and often the exact place it was taken. Converting an image here does not carry those into the new file.

This matters more than it sounds. A photograph posted online with those details intact can give away where it was taken to within a few metres, and most people have no idea they are in there at all. Converting the picture before you publish it removes them.

If you want that data kept, keep the original file. There is currently no option here to preserve metadata through a conversion.

What loading a page records

Requesting any page on this site is an ordinary web request, which means the server handling it receives your IP address, the address of the page you asked for, and the browser and operating system your browser reports. That is how the web works and this site is not an exception to it.

The site is static files served by a hosting provider, and that provider keeps operational request logs of the kind described above. We do not build profiles from them, we do not join them to anything else, and there is no account system for them to be attached to, because there are no accounts.

We are deliberately not quoting a retention period, because the logs are the hosting provider's and any number here would be us repeating something we do not control. If that matters to you, it is a fair thing to ask about before launch.

What this site does not do

As it is built today, this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads nothing from a third-party domain, and stores nothing in your browser between visits. Each of those is checkable in developer tools in under a minute.

• No cookies. None are set, so there is no cookie banner, because there is nothing to consent to.
• No analytics. No page-view tracking, no session recording, no heatmaps, no third-party measurement script of any kind.
• No third-party requests. The typefaces are served from this domain rather than fetched from a font provider, which is a common and easily missed way of leaking every visitor's IP address to someone else.
• No local storage. Nothing is written to local storage or session storage, so closing the tab leaves nothing behind.
• No accounts. There is no sign-up, so there is no email address, no password and no profile.
• No advertising. No ad network is connected and no ad script runs.

That last one is worth being straight about rather than presenting as a permanent promise. This site is free to use, and free things are usually paid for somehow. If advertising is ever added, several statements on this page stop being true, and the page will be rewritten in the same change rather than quietly left standing.

imgconvertertools is built and run by Abdul, publishing under the name Img team — the same person the about page names. Contact reaches them directly for anything on this page, including a request to see, correct or delete information connected to you.

Scope of this page

This page describes what the site does, in terms specific enough to verify. It is a factual disclosure rather than a formal legal policy, and it has not been reviewed by a lawyer.

The distinction is worth stating because a document titled "privacy policy" usually implies things this one does not yet fully contain. A named data controller and a route for making a data request are both above now. What is still missing is the legal basis for processing under GDPR and the disclosures specific jurisdictions require — those need a real legal review, not another paragraph written to sound like one, and they belong here before the site is promoted publicly.

Where this page and the rest of the site disagree, this page is the one to trust, and we would rather hear about the discrepancy than have it sit there. If something described here does not match what you observe in your own browser, that is a bug in the site or an error on this page, and either way it should be fixed — say so.
