✳ CHANGELOG

Changelog

What has changed here, newest first. Only things you would actually notice — a new converter, something that works better, something that was wrong and now isn't.

What changed, and when

Newest first. Each day lists what was added, what got better and what was fixed, and the date is the day that change actually went live on the site.

  • NewA contact page, so there is a way to reach a person about a bug, a missing format, or a question about your files.
  • NewA terms page, in plain English rather than the usual wall.
  • FixedIcon files now come out as a proper set of sizes. An icon made from a large picture used to come out at that original size, which some software quietly refused to open.
  • ImprovedText across the site is easier to read. Links inside a paragraph now carry an underline instead of being told apart by colour alone, and the small print is darker.

  • NewA directory listing every converter on the site, for when the menu is not the fastest way to what you want.
  • FixedEvery page is reachable from the menu again. A third of the site had been built but left out of it, which meant pages existed that you could not click your way to.
  • ImprovedPages were rewritten to drop the jargon and say what a conversion does to your picture in ordinary words.

  • NewFormat guides for PNG, JPG and WebP, explaining what each one is and when it is the right choice.
  • NewPer-format hub pages collecting every conversion for PNG, JPG and WebP in both directions.
  • NewAbout and privacy pages, both reachable from the footer of every page.
  • FixedThe background-colour control now appears only on conversions where it changes something. It used to show up on conversions that keep transparency, where it did nothing.

  • NewThe site opened with its first converters and a working tool on the homepage.

What gets listed here

Changes you would notice as someone using the site: a converter that wasn't here before, something that works better than it did, or something that was broken and is now fixed.

Plenty of work doesn't appear, and that's deliberate rather than a gap. Tidying behind the scenes, rewriting our own notes, and the ordinary business of building pages are not things that change your day, and a list padded with them is a list nobody reads to the bottom of. If a line here doesn't answer "what's different for me", it shouldn't be a line.

Every date is the day the change actually shipped. If something here doesn't match what you see, say so — that's a fault worth knowing about.
